RV Hot Water Systems Buying Guide

Finding the right hot water system (HWS) for your RV can be a challenge. The industry has multiple options, and it is hard to know which one will work best for you. If you are looking to purchase a new hot water system, this buying guide will help you make an informed decision on the type of RV hot water system that is right for you!

Determine priority water usage

The first tip is experienced Australian caravaners adjust their normal level of water consumption while on the road, often implementing strategies to save water. Necessities for water usage include personal hygiene, showering, cleaning dirty cutlery and crockery and washing clothes. Since water holding tanks have a limited capacity, consider what water usage is a priority.

Do not neglect using hot water altogether, because while having hot water to wash yourself and household items are a luxury, a combination of hot water and disinfecting detergent is needed to effectively remove potential hosts for bacteria.

One way of getting hot water on demand is putting a pot of water on the stove and bringing it to the boil to wash the dishes in the sink, assuming you have a built-in kitchen sink. But at the end of the day this method can be tiresome if you are on an extended trip away.

Built in hot water system

Having a built-in hot water system in your van is a very practical solution to having hot water on the go. Thankfully, there are numerous hot water systems available for the caravan and RV industry.

Instant hot water system

To reduce the amount of water wasted while waiting for the hot water to run through the pipes, install an instant hot water system. Instant hot water systems, means that the water heats up as it passes through the taps. There are multiple power sources that can heat the water including gas, diesel, and or electricity. These systems are very water and energy efficient, as the water is only heated when needed. The perfect solution when water is a limited resource on board your trailer.

Small and compact

Further, contemporary instant hot water systems are designed to be small and compact ensuring that they are space saving, light weight components. The caravan RV instant hot water systems can fit under a seat or in the back of one of the internal van cupboards.

Here are a few hot water systems, both tank and instant, that are available for installation by a Licensed Technician.
