FIRE 2 FORK AT ALROY STATION

Jenny and I just had an awesome visit to Alroy Station in South West Queensland.

I am a little biased about this area as I find the red dirt and huge night skies very addictive.

The main purpose of this visit was the Fire to Fork Festival on the Station. This involved some great live music, roast dinner in the outdoors and some awesome company. 

For those old graziers out there, I was interested to learn the science behind the presence of camels on the Station which were brought in from the NT. Apparently they have microbes in their gut which enhances the digestive process and maximises the absorption of nutrients in their food. The idea is to transfer these microbes to other stock on the Station via the sharing of water resources, which ultimately leads to better financial returns on the stock.

We will be back to Alroy Station for the river sites (grassy at present), artesian baths, camp fires (endless supply of wood), night skies and overall relaxed feeling of camping in the Mulga and red gums.
