We arrived in Stanthorpe on Friday 13th March and headed to Country Style Caravan Park. As we arrived, we passed through some of the bushland that had been affected by fire on the outskirts of town. The vegetation was growing back with plenty of green. However as we would soon find out, it was a ‘green drought’ as whilst they had received some rain in recent weeks, it was not enough to break the drought.
After setting up camp on a huge drive-through powered site at Country Style Caravan Park, we decided to head out to a few of our favourite Stanthorpe ‘places to visit’. Friday & Saturday we enjoyed visiting Stanthorpe Cheese, numerous wineries, Jamworks Gourmet Foods, Suttons Farm.
Even through there had been a drought and recent fires in Stanthorpe, the town and surrounding areas have so much to offer. The produce is beautiful and fresh, the wine is award winning and there is so much more to see, taste and do. We are thankful that the SCS Grass Roots Tour was able to support the community of Stanthorpe with over $28,000 injected by the Tour Attendees over the few days we all spent there. Definitely a beautiful spot to visit!
